Ingredients 

Pie Crust

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold, cut into cubes
  • ¼ cup ice water

Filling

  • 6 apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt for the crust. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, tossing with a fork until dough holds together when pressed. Divide dough in half and shape into two disks. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disk of dough to fit a 9-inch pie dish. Transfer dough to pie dish and trim even with edge. Refrigerate while preparing filling.
  4. In a large bowl, toss apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Pour into crust-lined pie dish.
  5. Roll out second disk of dough and place over filling. Trim, seal, and flute edges. Cut slits in top. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool on a wire rack.
